Opposites

by Samantha Compton   May 29, 2006

Most days I am brilliant purple,
Dwelling within myself,
Wrapped up in insightful thoughts,
And full of wonder.

Often, I am quiet,
Lingering in my thoughts,
And simply moving through life
In a peaceful manner.

Usually, I'm brilliant purple,
Subtle and nice,
Expressive all day long,
At least in my ever wandering mind.

But some days, I'm perpetual black,
Completely dissatisfied,
Mad at my daily routine,
And the limits of life.

Sometimes I'm falling,
Falling, falling,
Falling through everything I have known,
And all hope seems lost.

Occasionally, I'm screaming
Inside my head
For something different,
Something fulfilling.

Sometimes I feel my world is gone,
Leaving me standing alone,
Alone, and in darkness,
And my sorrow settles in.

Most days I'm brilliant purple,
But other days, I fall apart.
