If Only

by Shelby Smith   May 31, 2006

A peaceful silence
Fills the air with a sense of welcome,

As I gaze at the embracing moon,
I wonder if my entire existence
could even compare to its magnificence.

I quickly turn my face downward
For the beauty of the night
is too great for my eyes to behold,

Taking in the loneliness of the night
I wonder to myself,

Is there any possibility that there is someone that could really
Understand me or is it inevitable that I
Shall remain a mystery to the world,

Can anybody else view the world through my eyes,

And have the ability to take something as simple as
The night sky and see its glory with in,

Or is beauty simply in the eyes of the beholder,

The silence was broken
As the trees sway in the gentle breeze,

The stars shine with the brilliance of a thousand angels

Guiding all of the lost dreams,

As a tear silently runs down my face
I softly whisper to the sky
If only you could help guide me.
