All I ever wanted

by Shelby Smith   May 31, 2006

The rain is like my lullaby as I fall asleep

Each rain drop reminds me of the tears that were shed from my eyes each time you broke my heart

As I listen to the rain fall against my window I long for it to come pour down on me and cleanse my soul of it's pain

Often I wish as my pride begins to dim that my tears could free me of my past

Yet I know my past is just a part of me

A chapter in this book of life that i seem to be writing

Therefore i mustn't regret any of the sleepless nights I spent thinking of you

Because at least I knew all the while someone accepted me for who I am

And thats all I ever wanted.
