Sleep Eternal

by Milton Silva   Jun 1, 2006

One more night…Cold as the icy sea…
alone…no more pain,
I see now…it’s meant to be
the destiny weaved in threads of gold
now just a shade of crimson scarlet

I feel none…I desire none
pleasure follows a different road than mine
joy…a fleeting memory
lost in the swirl of blood shed tonight…
just another night…

To have heeded the warning…
a way out of the misery I forecast
and still, unwavering, I danced with the fire
as it cast the long shadow of oblivion
the same that covers my forgotten pale skin…

Dreamy…my thoughts fading now…
Death’s eternal embrace welcoming me
into its world of moments long gone…
how I rejoice…for tonight…
this shall be the beginning of sleep eternal…
