Ode to faithful friend

by Lenny   Jun 2, 2006

Ode to a faithful friend, my heart:
My heart can beat with love for two perfect strangers,
And pound against my rib cage for a favorite sport,
It can pump its way around my frozen body,
In the dead of lonely night,
And tease my head with its gossip,
My heart can blow the trumpet of tender health,
And retain my faith when my blind head strays,
It can beat a friendly rhythm to fill the silence,
And melt away the very tears it caused,
Ode to a faithful friend, my heart,
Forever in you shall reside the greatest gift of all.
