Mona Lisa Smiles

by Bradley Peter   Jun 2, 2006

Could i know the truth, of your smile
if i do, then i lie, and stay in denial
in foreign tongue, you speak of pain
i know not your strife, yet feel your strain
your eyes are innocent, yet deep and wise
and i stay oblivious to all your lies
you place your fate, into my feeble hands
and ask of me, to make all your plans
your lips tremble, do mine do the same
are we two frighten objects, within this frame
both each holding, a Mona Lisa smile
then i choose my decision, to stay in denial

*just in case anyone missed it, this poem is about someone committing adultery but the other person pretending not to know*
