She was happy

Yesterday She was happy,
I knew for the first time,
I could hear it in her laughter,
I could see it in her eyes.

She looked at me and smiled,
"thank you" she whispered,
And softly spoke the words,
I love you too Katie.

I knew it made her happy,
With everything I wrote,
And for the first time,
I felt my pride rise.

For once she looked at me,
Smiled with the tears,
Letting me know,
She's been proud throughout the years.
