Handsome Boy

It must be a nightmare
A story I've read
I can't have lost my silent friend,
The best furry companion I've ever had
I can't have really buried his sweet body,
Beneath the sticks and sand
He understood me like no one has before,
Big brown eyes always sincere
He listened with concern,
Licked me to cheer my heart
This four-legged creature,
He never sold me out
He never told my secrets
I was never left to doubt
I knew he could hear me,
Wanted to heal my soul
It isn't possible, can't be real
I can't have lost my handsome baby boy,
My comforter, my white child
But he waited for me in the weeds,
And bled beside the road
He wanted me to comfort him
I wanted to save him from his pain
I hope he understood everything I said
I told him that I love him so,
And shall until I die
He helped me in many ways,
For this I love him more
I will visit his grave in all of my spare time
Oh dear Buddy,
My puppy, my friend, my son
I hope you no longer hurt
I love you and I will miss you forever
Let's always remember our good times
And forget our rough and bad times
We will see each other in the future!
Rest in peace my handsome boy
