An Angel\'s Worth

by Bethan   Jun 4, 2006

Pure, innocent and full of grace,
An angelic smile lights up her face,
A being of beauty so divine,
A love to stand the test of time,

A tale so old it's become a legend,
Though its meaning's never lessened,
Of an angel sent from above,
Who when here did fall in love,

She was sent to Earth with a message from the Lord,
To tell the people he should not be ignored,
If in him they did not believe,
Then it is they, for whom he'll grieve,

So of heaven the angel took leave,
To show the people they should believe,
However in her task she was destined to fail,
And so begins the sorrowful tale,

For when she arrived at this place called Earth,
She fell in love with a man of great worth,
And with his encouragement wished to stay,
And live with him till his dying day,

So for this man she clipped her wings,
And no more messages would she bring,
She imparted her devotion to god almighty,
For the love of one less worthy,

She gave up flight and eternal bliss,
These and more she would miss,
She lived her last days here on Earth,
Wishing she'd known an Angel's worth.
