Praying To Forget

by Carissa   Feb 19, 2004

Not every poem has to rhyme
Besides that just seems to be a waist of time
So that stops here…
Time for some free verse

All I want is to forget about this world.
I never really cared how.
Be it by death or amnesia, I don't care.
No one seems to get that though.
They just think that I'm kidding.
Well news to you, I'm not.
My words are true.
Some say all life has meaning.
Well I'm here to say your wrong.
There is no meaning to be held in my life.
I'm simply here, taking up another seat in the audience.
The audience of this show in front of me.
I know I live in a show, how else could everyone be so fake.
But all I really know is that it bores me.
The same old thing happens again and again.
Someone getting hurt or killed everyday.
Someone loves while another gets a broken heart
Some argument or war begins.
The wrong person dies,
While the one who lives wishes to be dead.
Sounds like a TV show to me.
One that would never last long at all.
So why hasn't it been canceled yet.
Not everyone wants to act forever.
Or perhaps I'm the only one who has grown tired.
Because I am tired, but am I the only one?
That's kind of hard to believe,
But then again so is this life.
So until life is canceled,
I guess I'm just going to have to keep praying.
Praying to forget about all I have come to know.
