Wish

by Falln in love again   Jun 7, 2006

Make a wish on a flower, make a wish on a shooting star,
Keep living your life on wishes & you won't get very far.
Promises broken too often, minds filled with false hope,
When everything in life seems to be goin' wrong it's sometimes hard to cope.
Nothing's ever done the way it should be, nothing's ever good enough,
When everyone frowns upon you, living life can be tough.
Borrowed time is all you have, getting lost and falling deep,
Guarded and depressed all day, finding at night you can't sleep.
You know you can't have it all, but no one said you couldn't try,
Failure after failure, don't break down, they can't see you cry.
You put on your happy mask, when asked, nothing's wrong,
You just build your wall up higher, show everyone you're strong.
Even though your deepest wish is for someone to break the wall down,
To take a second look, to see behind your painted smile is a frown.
You need someone to really care & for those feelings to show,
You need someone to listen, someone who will never go.
But for now you stay guarded, your eyes covered in a haze,
Maybe you'll be like this forever, or maybe it's just a phase.
