A happier place

I saw a little girl
The other day
Playing at the park
Her mom and dad
Were sitting on a bench
But we were world apart

She could smile
She seemed free
Like an angel
God had sent
Just for me

So I stood and watched
This little girl
Running around
All alone
But she seemed to laugh and play
All on her own

I envied her
For she was glad
Like she's never cried a tear
And even if it was just her
She seemed to have no fear

So I turned away
And said a prayer
Asking god
"Please keep her safe"

Cause this little girl
Reminded me
Of a happier place
