Sobering Silence

by Kyleene   Jun 8, 2006

I sunk into the concealed tomb of secrets in my mind
And despite the agony,
Told you my sorrowful fears
I broke through my protective shield
And allowed my soul to gush out onto paper
The feelings I shared are sacred and divine
Fear of you uttering my words to another flickers through me
My future will be bleak if you repeat what I have said
You are special to me
This is why I have told you my muffled thoughts
Silence is all I ask of you
Sobering silence
I know that my words are heavy
So if you must relieve yourself of the burden I have lain upon you
Speak to me of your problems
I may not be gorgeous, radiant, or eloquent
But I do love you
And I'm here if you need me
My heart would whither if you confided my secrets to someone else
Sobering silence
This is all that I ask
I know I'm not entrancing, miraculous, or dainty
But I do trust you with my life
Sobering silence
That's all I want
