It's sad to think of
how we used to be
how close we once were
how you could set that free

but it's sadder to know
that it doesn't mean a thing
that it quickly disappeared
escaped from deep within

we were always together
literally your other half
now we don't speak at all
we never even laugh

it's hard going from everyday
to not seeing you at all
hard to say good-bye
to the hugs and the phone calls

just difficult to understand
