As She Grows

by Tess Beautifully Broken   Jun 8, 2006

Pacifiers and blankets,
She is a baby with newly opened eyes,
Worry and hope,
This baby nestles against her mother and sighs.

Pigtails and ribbons,
She is a child with twinkling eyes,
Love and compassion,
To this child her mother speaks no lies.

Computers and teddy bears,
She is a preteen trying to find her way,
Courage and a sense of reassuring,
Her mother tells her everything will be okay.

Cell phones and boys,
She is a teenager with a long to break away,
Endurance and stanza,
Her mother wont let their relationship fray.

Taxes and romance,
She is a young women with a sense of know,
Fear and understanding,
Her mother knows she must let go.

A wedding ring on her finger,
She is an adult with a life of her own,
Even though her daughter is far away,
This mother never feels alone.

A flower in her hand,
She is an old women thinking back,
The love of her mother,
That is one thing she never did lack.
