Gratitude

by Kyleene   Jun 8, 2006

You have both done so much for me
Offered me a home when I had no where to go
You gave me comfort when I was hurting and upset
Both of you taught me lessons others wouldn't
Lessons such as respect, affection, discipline, and the meaning of family
There are times that I may act ungrateful
But even though my words sting at moments,
My heart forever swells with gratitude
Your family and ideas of life have opened my eyes to new experiences
In my past,
I would never have imagined that I would run in track
Or become a cheerleader for next year
Nor believed that I would ever become a student in Aca-Deca
Or possibly letter as a sophomore in choir
My morals and values are being cleaned up
And thanks to yours and other promptings,
My new goal is to discontinue my habit of smoking
Also, I am now trying to eat healthier
Your effects on my emotions, choices, and thoughts are great
And both of your influences have changed my life
You, Uncle, have taught me in areas such as math and science
Taught me to think with logic and reason
And you, Aunt, have helped me in other aspects of life
Things such as how to stand up for myself, try new activities, make more friends
You have also taught me how to support my school
Take this poem as a thank you
I want you to realize that that one phrase is filled with gratitude and heart-felt love
I appreciate everything you have done for me,
Both of you and your entire family are forever embedded in my heart
My gratitude and appreciation are eternal
