These are the words of someone I once knew,
Who inspired me until their face turned blue.
Who was fully engaged in hope and in love,
Someone who always respected the big man above.
A perfect person who was always headstrong,
The first to right you when you were wrong.
And always the first to praise you as well,
Always the one to catch you before you fell.
Well, what if one day they let you hit the floor?
And they just don't seem so perfect anymore?
All of the sudden you see them in a whole new light,
The bad thing is, this light isn't so bright.
Time after time they continue to let you down.
You find your respect for them falling to the ground.
Disappointment follows and burdens their name,
Now all you do is hang your head in shame.
You remember the days when you looked at them with sparkling eyes,
These days as you look all you see are the lies.
The lies that brought you to so many tears,
Out comes the pain that has built up over the years.
Have you ever experienced this at all?
It's like an extreme emotional downfall.
Everything is cluttered by confusion and hate,
And when you try to persevere, you're forced away by fate.
It doesn't matter how much you want that old beautiful person to stay,
This darker side always pushes them out of the way.
Farther and deeper into the dust of your mind,
There are always positive things you will find.
I've found that with dry eyes you can stay strong,
And everything will be okay before long.
That someday everything will fall into place,
Even though progress seems to slow its pace.
Given time the clouds of confusion will eventually clear,
And a brighter future will soon appear.
Your dusty mind will be gently swept away,
As long as you keep in mind that tomorrow is a brand new day.
A great person once gave me some useful advice,
And I myself have found it to be quite nice.
It leads me through all of the right signs,
And it goes a little something along these lines:
