The Beaten Path

by Patrick   Jun 10, 2006

Was it hard to keep on walking when you found yourself alone?

And when it rained, did you shine, or drown like all the rest?

Did you trod the beaten path, or did you forge your own?

And when the darkness crept behind you, were you quaking to the bone?

Did you keep your solid ground or did you cower to the test?

Was it hard to keep on walking when you found yourself alone?

When everyone was doing wrong, were you just another clone?

Did you stand for what was right, or succumb to their pathetic jeers?

Did you trod the beaten path, or did you forge your own?

When all seemed lost, did you reap what you had sown?

And when everything was closing in, did you run from all your fears?

Was it hard to keep on walking when you found yourself alone?

When you finally turned to face your fears, what was it you were shown?

And when you went against the rest, who had you become?

Did you trod the beaten path, or did you forge your own?

Oh how tiring these wretched days have grown;

In the face of adversity, you were the one who won!

Was it hard to keep on walking when you found yourself alone?

Did you trod the beaten path, or did you forge your own?
