2006

by Lexi Lou   Jun 10, 2006

The clapping echoing
The catcalls from the back
Proud smiles all around
With very little tact

Speeches inducing laughter
Achievements being rewarded
A future to look ahead to
A complex class being sorted

Songs full of excitement
Hugs full of promise and cheer
Wishing everyone good luck
Walking away with a hell of a year

Standing in the back with tears
Tears unlike the others
She says goodbye
To people who have become her sisters and brothers

She is happy for their bright futures
And the chance to expand their minds
She just wishes she wasn't
The one to be left behind

Touched by small people
Who make her laugh and smile in the halls
A new year without them
Makes her dread coming back at all

The freshman surrounded by seniors
On their glorious day
Wondering why life had to be so fast
Why can't time just stay?

This is to you class 2006
And what a difference you made to me
I wish you all the best of luck
I'll miss you terribly

(My worst poem yet...)
