1000

by enfant du tordu chagrin   Jun 10, 2006

1000 shards of heartbreak shooting through my breast
1000 words unspoken, woken from their rest
The pain is indescribable, for which words could show
The shattering of every dream that you could ever know

This hand is grasping round my heart, squeezing oh so tight
Ripping through that which remains, and there's no will to fight
The pain it floods my body, drowns both heart and soul
How swiftly each emotion dies, and turns as black as coal

How your head feels swollen, with each thought contained
And the surge continues, when it should have waned
The tears they flow unbidden, drowning out the world
But even they cannot express the pain which has unfurled

1000 verses could not express a moment of this hurt
1000 lives is not enough to stop feeling like dirt
The loss of your identity, the loss of what is you
To describe this wound inside, the words just are too few
