Hush Little Baby

Hush little baby, silent your cries
Why do I see sadness in your green eyes?
Would you like me to hold you in my arms?
While your world is crashing down, I’ll keep you from harm

Stuck here again to cry on my own
Family isn’t important anymore in this home
Everyone is drifting farther and farther apart
While no one sees it’s breaking the youngest heart

I always knew my pillow would be my best friend
Although last time I thought I wouldn’t need it again
This situation is driving me completely insane
I try to smile to show a that I’m not completely drained

But no one knows that I just want to run away
I’d even be happy with a vacation of only a couple days
I just tell myself to close my eyes and breathe
But my nose is running and every second I have a sneeze

I just wonder where the rewind button went
It was sitting in front of me I never charged rent
I just feel the hour glass ticking down to none
And then my heart will be shattered because it seems I haven’t won

I just wish someone would show up at my door
Tell me that I don’t have to cry anymore
Tell me to throw away my paper and pen
I’ll never have to release my feelings in poetry again

But no one ever says………
