Afraid of Love

I was a different girl,
Not too long ago,
I was very much in love,
And wasn't afraid to let it show.

I've learned my lesson since then,
And I no longer believe,
I was hurt to bad to even explain,
But I knew I had to leave.

There's someone new however,
Who's crept into my heart,
He consumes my every thought,
But I'm afraid of another start.

Just being hurt once,
Has scarred me for life,
After what that damn boy did to me,
I can't stand another strife.

I'm praying with all my heart,
So I can let him in,
But right now I'm so afraid of love,
That I'm letting my fear win.
