Sunday's Vanity

by Raychil   Jun 12, 2006

Church bells are ringing
It's a beautiful Sunday morning
People grab their bibles and coffee
Today is something they can't be ignoring

Women put on their dresses
Men wear their jackets and ties
So wrapped up in Sunday
They can't see past the Preacher's lies

He speaks his great wisdom
Of how God plans to rule
Only teaching from his own bible
He plays them as fools

He tells them how the world is corrupt
Because of musicians and models getting thinner
Telling everyone who the imperfects are
When they are the true sinners

They think they are above
The rest of the world's lives
Saying no one will be perfect as them
No matter how hard anyone tries

They think reds can't be with yellows
And blue's and green's are prized
And you are only equally white
If you have been baptized

And in the church they learn this
From their Preacher without fault
Who says whatever happens in the world,
They should always revolt

For the church is law above all else
It does nothing wrong because God says so
But God isn't a part of this
And people are too blind to know

Going to church doesn't make you prefect
That's what the church refuses to see
That they hold a great imperfection
A sin, called vanity.

*This is just an opinion. I am a Christian and believe in God, this is simply another way to look at the behavior of some churches.

Well said. Written beautifully, I might add. I, myself, agree with you and the poem and what you expressed out of your opinion. You just keep coming up with great poems each day, don't you? Haha. Keep it up!
