In Hell's Direction

by Sarah Ann   Jun 13, 2006

Something is just not hitting it
The pitch still isn't right
And I try to move back on the track
I strive through with all my might

But it seems the crack is breaking
And slowly I disappear
The Earth is tilting forward now
And nothing is looking clear

I rub my eyes to gaze around
But all I perceive is dirt
And people screaming and crying
Bloody and inflicted, I feel hurt

Stairs light up ahead of me
I crawl forward and cry in pain
For each step that my foot touches
Begins to disintegrate like rain

What's happening is I'm falling
And being pushed on to the ground
I see that others take no effort
Each step they walk seems so profound

I beg out for that helping hand
Any one person could pull me up
Yet each one, they simply pass me by
Or look down in mere disgust

My body slips in deeper
Beneath, it is burning and cold
I gaze at the fortunate above
Oh, how they look so very bold!

Some made it to the light, I see
And they shake their head to prove my shame
I know these people, I know them now
So many familiar golden names

One by one they pass that gate
And as I remember my heart burns
They told me to do right things
But I strived for what lust yearns
.
.
.
Tears swept across my broken face
The one lost in death's reflection
I noticed that as my life did break
To Hell was my direction
