I like the rhyming, and thought the rhythm was okay. I disagree with what you're saying though... people remember others for all sorts of reasons.. I mean I remember my dead DOG at completely random times, and that definitely isn't just once per year.

I really like this. I wrote a poem similar to this once...but I was a lot younger, and it didn't turn out very well. Yours is very well written.
