Some Things Never Change

by Flying Phoenix   Jun 13, 2006

I've returned and I'm back
People still here; faces of recognition
Their caring eyes and loving arms
Are, in spite of everything, there again
Conversations of great times
Before that dreaded night
Yet hollow I feel now
Within this place where nothing changes
So much torment has wrecked my head
But I do not look different
Only deep in my eyes
Disguised inside my mind
Resides my inner doubt

Could you see
When I sat there alone
Whilst everyone carried on?

You only noticed when I say
The troubled mind hidden away

And there across
Still happy and the same
I gaze around
And nothing has changed

But deep inside
Scarred by you
I know that
Some things never change
And some things do

I love poetry that you can read coherently and doesn't have to rhyme for the sake of rhyming. I really love this piece!
