Laying Awake

by simply crissyboo   Jun 13, 2006

I cannot sleep,
Thinking about you,
I'll never forget,
I just wasn't good enough,
So go, fly away,
With your gold foil wings,
They're falling apart,
Falling to the floor,
Just like my broken heart,
Thoughts race through my head,
Staring at the ceiling,
I can't fall asleep,
Because I'm sure,
Without you, I won't wake up.

    "I just wawasn't good enough,"
spelling error, I think you can pick it out

Good ending, and nice use of metaphor with the gold-foil wings. This poem was nice and short, which let it get by on such little specificity and descriptive prose. If this were a longer poem, I'd expect some more details.
