A Burden Delivered

by David Moss   Jun 13, 2006

A letter arrived in the mail today
that was addressed quite simply to you.
It was scripted as neatly as you would choose write it,
though the stamp was placed slightly askew.

One corner was curled and miscolored from time
spent making it's way house to home.
But the contents seem safe in this enveloped state
To leave well enough all alone.

I've now placed it with care in your favorite blue box,
dust-free lovingly chastised to keep.
It was sent from a friend you had once thought long gone -

So for two of us now I still weep.
