Into the World

Graduation
A time of moving forward
To leave High School behind
Who knew it would be so hard?

Yesterday evening
Seniors stood tall and proud
Accepting that diploma
While parents screamed so loud

After all the tests,
Loss of family and friends
They stood silent for a moment
Realizing this was the end

Then came the tears
Of joy, sadness, relief
Intermixed with happiness
Friends forever is the belief

As they take that step forward
Into the big world
There was just one person missing
One senior girl

She never got to take that step
To prove what she's worth
She was not a dropout
She was buried under the earth
