Behind the Summer's Disguise

by Flying Phoenix   Jun 14, 2006

From beneath the shaded tree
I lay there reading, thinking, dreaming
Puzzling over times again in my mind
Those days before
Crying in the shadows

Yet now with the summer breeze
The light hazily drifting through the trees
And the laughter; children play
All my troubles are hidden away

They are still there
Behind lock and key
Secret worries, memories, times
Concealed within me
But I cannot let them out
With the joy so around
Who would want to destroy
Their innocent summer days?

So I lay back and read
Keeping my troubles at bay
Safely when I'm alone
I'll unlock them
And face them
Destroy them from me
But not right now
I'll let the children be
