Old and widowed, alone in her room,
This is where, she'll face her silent doom.
At 98, she's lived such a life so full,
As she drifts off, wrapped in the sheet of wool.
She remembers, when she was young,
The very first time, she got stung-
By a bee, and how she cried,
How she made that "little sucker" die.
Older now, she remembers prom,
As she posed for pictures for her mom.
Her date arrived, and they danced the night away,
People still remember, how pretty she was today.
Fast-forward to marriage, her walking down the aisle,
As all the guests would sniffle, and smile.
She said, "I do" to the man she loved so long,
As they walked out of the church as they played a song.
Three years later, a child is now around,
Another one coming soon, still not a frown.
The love between them all, hold them together,
For they are all so in love with one another.
More in the future, the children are away,
They're at college now, yet the parents stay.
They're getting older now, yet still young at heart,
And they love each other as much as when they start.
Grandchildren now around, kids visit little,
Love bond holds together, still not brittle.
Her grand kids call her often, yet see her never,
Yet their love's as strong as ever.
Fast-forward again, the husband's dead,
He grew old and sicker, let it go to his head.
He's underneath the ground now, she's all alone,
She's still alive and breathing, yet on her own.
She's still, young at heart, yet now by herself,
She'd give anything to have him back, even her wealth.
As she drifts off into a deeper sleep, never to return,
For all she wanted was him, it was her only concern.
