The Kiss

by fallen angel   Jun 15, 2006

Do you remember the first time we kissed?
I do.
It was warm that day.
We were both really shy,
Unsure of what the other would say.
Lustful silence as we walked along,
Our hearts racing.

I remember the look in your eyes,
I remember your smell too.
It was our little secret,
And I loved you from that first kiss.

Not wanting to rush things I pushed you away.
I was playing hard to get,
Or so they say.

Eventually it happened
Our hearts began to beat as one.
Just the thought of seeing you brought a smile to my face.
It was all so perfect so premature and new.

The last time I saw you we walked in silence again.
This wasn't good though.
Deep down I knew what was next,
I knew what you were thinking.
I still thought it was perfect,
Apparently you did not.

As I watched you walk away
Getting on your train,
I began to cry,
But I wouldn't let you see me,
So I ran away to hide.

You say you no longer love me.
You say you no longer care.
The thought of you saying these things makes me
Want to break down and cry.

The thought of seeing you makes me cry,
Quite the opposite of the way it once was.
I hear your voice and I lose mine.

And now I know you will
Never
Feel the same way again.

But I'll still love you.

Honestly, I really like the first half and I'm kind of iffy on the second half. I think it switches writing styles sort of in the middle there and it's not the same. It's a very good poem though. Hopefully things get better.
