Suicide Father

by Samantha Reed   Jun 15, 2006

The phone fell to the counter
And tears welled up in her eyes
How was she going to tell the kids
Their father committed suicide

She walked into the living room
And hugged them all so tightly
She kissed each one on their forehead
And then she whispered lightly

"Your father is in a better place,
I guess this life he couldn't bear.
But he will always be in our hearts."
The daughter screamed "It isn't fair!"

It isn't fair he left us,
Making us have to cope.
Hasn't he ever heard of
A little thing called hope?

Their mother didn't answer
She just took them to bed
She couldn't concentrate
There was too many thoughts in her head

He wasn't just a dad
And he wasn't just a friend
He was more than just a brother
And now he isn't "just dead"

He's gone away
To a better place
He's someone that
You "just cant erase"

He'll be on your mind
Every once and awhile
But when you think of him
Don't cry, smile!
