Still Breathing

by forgetmytyme   Jun 16, 2006

When you hold me,
tightly in your arms,
And I feel that my heart
has skipped a beat,
I check to reassure myself that I am...
Still Breathing.
When your soft lips
sweetly touch mine,
and your finger tips
gently caress my hand,
I tell myself...
Don't panic.
It may not be love,
but whatever it is
makes my heart beat faster
when I see you.
And my mind jumps into overload.
Yelling at me...
"Don't screw this up!!"
Then I look at you
And see the passion in your eyes,
my heart skips a beat.
I check to reassure myself that I am...
still breathing.
You run your fingers through my hair.
Making me feel so safe,
with your arms wrapped all the way around me.
You feel like home.
We need no words;
just the conversation of my hand in yours,
and I am content.
But every now and then
when a rush of warmth rolls over me...
I check to reassure myself that I am...
still breathing.
