Simple Poem

by Brad Champagne   Jun 17, 2006

As I lie awake at night,
Before my eyes the glorious sight
Of you, surrounded in the light,
Is my greatest and simplest delight.

Although the space between is far,
I reach for you as the furthest star,
To once again be not afar,
And play my love on this guitar.

For so long I sought the perfect one,
To be my world, moon, and sun.
Since meeting you, a calm's begun
As my heart you surely won.

I'm not that good with love and emotion,
Though always you'll have my complete devotion.
My feelings for you run as deep as the ocean,
Quite a powerful little notion.

When to my arms once more you find your way,
Will be a bright and glorious day,
Though I know you cannot stay.
"I love you," is what I'm trying to say.

Amazing poem. The girl it's for must mean a lot to you. Great use of diction. You really expressed yourself. 5/5. Keep it up. It's very sweet.
