Mommy

by Poetvoices   Jun 18, 2006

At least a hundred poems I've written,
and this is the most difficult one.
The topic's the hardest
out of every one under the sun.

I want this to be personal,
I want it to be real,
but I can't describe, in a literal sense,
the feelings that I feel.

It's that loving vibe.
Even when cross words are said,
I still love you, utmost in my heart
and farther back in my head.

Now, I'll do my best Mommy.
Here's the best I can do.
I look around to find something
that I can compare you to.

A rose in full bloom,
you're more beautiful.
A cold drink on a hot day,
you're more refreshing.
A garden planted by an expert,
you're more relaxing.
A pair of my favorite pajamas,
your embrace is cozier, and your heart, more warming.
A melody by the finest,
you're more enchanting.

My head is sore.
I can think no more.

Finally, after all this,
I have learned my lesson.
Stop looking for something better,
when the best thing is right in front of you,
and remember:
if love was meant to be describable or definable.
someone could have and WOULD have done it by now.
