Saving Face

by Poetvoices   Jun 18, 2006

Dinner as usual,
or so I thought,
but after what I saw,
I ate not a bit of what I bought.
He didn't know tonight
would be the night that he was caught.

I knew him immediately,
and I almost waved
until I saw her.
I wouldn't be so brave.
He never saw me, but it didn't matter.
His face could not be saved.

She wasn't his sister.
Definitely not mom.
She was his ex--
the one he took to prom.
SHE wasn't the one who'd been there for him!
How long was it she'd been gone?

When I exposed him, what excuse would he make?
"Thought I'd see her as a friend. I missed her."
I guess not that one, considering he just kissed her.
I hated him from the beginning. I just can't believe
he'd do this to my sister.
