Friendship found

My life was turned upside-down
Ravaged, like the safe after a bank robbery
Pieces of the past, present, future strewn about like dirty laundry
Unsure of what to do, even more ambiguous of who to turn to
Surrounded by multitudinous people, like in a bustling city
Their beady eyes, staring,
Passing judgment, and frowning
No one could comprehend,
Not a single soul could fathom the idea, relate to an abused girl
Alone, in a myriad of haunting eyes, yet not a solitary kind ear to listen
Alas! A ray of light shown down
The heavens parted, and you,
My beloved guardian angel,
My Davey Boy
Did the unthinkable, and took a chance
You listened
You loved me
You believed in me
The genuine sincerity of your heart pulled my
Weak, limp, shivering, suffering body from the
Frigid, dark, dismal depths of the cave in which I was secluded, hidden
The compassion of your spirit brought warmth to my bones
Returned the pink to my peaked cheeks
Revived my unstable, erratic, insecure thoughts
The greatness of your soul opened my eyes to the rest of the world
Showed me the glass was half-full, and any dream could be achieved
Not all people are vicious dogs like my father,
It is OK to live, love, and prosper
Because of you, my hero
I can walk again
Stand tall, with my shoulders back and my head held high
When life seems to take a downward spiral, like a jet falling from the sky
My knight saves me, not with a crested shield and glinting sword
But with his open heart and a lended ear
