Unapologetic

by Poetvoices   Jun 19, 2006

Sometimes, even in public,
I wear two different earrings,
sometimes, two different shoes.
That's just how I do things.

I have an utter disdain
for anything prep.
In fact I hate most things popular.
That is, except...

I love my Chuck Taylors
and all my Care Bears stuff.
Actually, when it comes to that,
I cannot have enough.

But I like to draw bloody hearts
and crosses mounted on rocks,
and I LOVE to dance around my room
in a T-shirt and my socks.

I love the quiet, shy side of me
and the one my friends all know.
I make them laugh until they hurt,
but outsiders don't deserve the show.

I love my Jesus
and being different from you.
In fact, I'll be the opposite
of what you want me to.

I like every kind of music (even opera)
depending on the WORDS!!
I like to waste a whole roll of film
taking pictures of the birds.

I even sing aloud in public
with air drums and/or guitar,
and when I move out of this house,
even though I live in a tiny town, I don't plan on going far.

My room is covered in horses,
and my bed, in a Charlie Brown sheet.
I love to play badminton in my front yard
in my bare feet.

I like to play with sidewalk chalk
and roll around in it.
After all, I've named MYSELF
Little Miss Independent.

You may think of one word,
and that would be "pathetic",
but I just can't be sorry for who I am.
MY one word: UNAPOLOGETIC!
