Broken Glass

by daena   Jun 20, 2006

She stands before the mirror,
And looks into the glass.
Her troubles that worry her,
Hide a secret from the past.

A year ago today,
She was a happy teenage girl.
Within one day,
Shattered was it all.

On her way home from work,
Someone grabbed her from behind.
Then an hour later,
Distraught was her mind.

She lay on the pavement,
Covered in her gore.
The ambulance arrived,
Asking from her more.

When she arrived at the hospital,
Ghosts surrounded her in awe.
The ghost immediately operated,
For it was a life or death call.

Eight days later she awoke,
Paralyzed from the waist down.
From that hour, eight days ago,
What happened, no one will know.

Depression, memory loss, anxiety,
Are the complications she faces today.
What happens next,
Is to anyone’s dismay.

She sits before this mirror,
Looking into her lap.
Four fingers clenched,
And a thumb laid at rest.

She just can’t take it anymore,
She knows now what to do.
No one can save her now,
She leaves this world and nobody knew.
