Summer of Bubblegum

by Liz   Jun 20, 2006

Smile
Even though you're dead inside
Just smile
Maybe It'll be okay
And they won't notice the tears.
Maybe you can tell yourself it doesn't hurt
You've lied to yourself before...
Isn't that why you're in this mess?
A summer of bubblegum,
stories and boys
Turned into a summer of tar you can't seem to get yourself out of
And the bird they call irony
Chirps his song away from high in the willow
Where the shade fails to cover your scars

Liz, nice poem. Very nice, it flowed smoothly and had a good moral to it. Keep up the good work, I`ll be looking to read/rate/comment some of your other poems as you seem like a well experienced poet. Great work. 5/5.
