The Road You Paved

Despairing looks in an all white portrait,
They stain the beauty with a black shade
When day breaks, you alone will know
The price to pay for consulting a blade.

Keep pretending that no one sees you,
Brace the fallacy that mutilation keeps you elated
There is no one else to blame for your discord.
Lieing now for the crippling guilt you've created,

It's purely cowardice and you know it,
Yet deep down it's the world's attention you crave.
Saying its just the opposite, to prove them wrong,
But how can you attest to anything in your grave?

Young girl you know little to nothing of life
For it is waiting for sick thoughts to be purged.
Blaming the world for your worthless vanity,
Shoot down a helping hand, say it never emerged.

Have you looked inside a mirror lately
The world is not holding the knife to your wrist.
It's you and your vapid heart, too easily convinced
That you have no say and I'm your ventriloquist.

Well let me tell you something, my friend,
For when the night sets in, I know you very well.
Darkness creeps into your heart; it makes you sick
But only as sick as the stories you tell.

As I have said, this world is made of bright colors,
But depression has mystified your perception.
Look at us all again, see our ink splattered hearts,
Know that we would never demand perfection.

For when day breaks, the light will spread to corners,
It will alleviate what you've mistaken for so long.
Rest assured that this day will come and soon
The light will put you where you belong.
