Little Partial Knowledge

by david kessel   Jun 21, 2006

The biggest scourge for those who've gone to college
Is the eternal bane of partial knowledge.
They think that now they know everything,
And make decisions suited for a king.

The biggest curse of those with a religion,
Is dazzled faith with knowledge but a smidgen.
They think that if the Book will say it so,
That must be true, and hence, it's apropos.

In other words, the problem with the world,
Is just the fact that we are being hurled
Into abyss by those who know a bit,
But think themselves possessive of a Wit.

Bespectacled and dressed in pins-and-stripes,
Or cleric's silky clothes, (you know the types).
They lead us like the Gods were lead by Jupiter,
Because we think that we are even stupider.

A bit of knowledge coupled with delusion,
Will throw the world to bottoms of confusion,
And if you ad some priggishness and nerve,
Into the depths of Hell the world will swerve.

Depending on the culture and locality,
There are conflicting versions of reality,
But what they seem to have in common is,
One part is true, the rest is bubbly fizz.

Such versions are upheld by smiling honchos,
And leftist presidents in fluffy ponchos
And burly generals with shiny medals-
Each one his partial knowledge as "exhaustive" peddles!

Whether it's Joe, or Bill or Xiao Ping,
A little knowledge is a scary thing
When backed by ignorant and dumb majority,
And weapons, money, power and authority.
