Rejection

by Cuddles   Jun 21, 2006

Someone held up the mirror to my life,
showing me my reflection.
Hurt and sorrow traced the lines of my face.
My eyes held the pain of rejection.

I needed you to help me grow,
but you were never really there.
I needed you to love me,
but you never really cared.

When life became too much for me
I needed you to hold my hand,
to tell me everything would be okay,
to listen and to understand.

The times when I felt the lowest
I really needed a friend,
but you were consumed in your own life.
You didn't know I wanted mine to end.

I spent years thinking it was my fault,
but now I can finally see
that I never rejected you.
You rejected me.

Sad and heartbreaking yet uplifting at the same time. I could almost feel the pian until the end when I felt like strength was gained from the realizatioin there was nothing wrong with the girl but rather it was the man.
