He promised he'd always be there
She promised she'd never tell
But all promises have been broken
And things aren't going so well

She'd said she'd always help
She would comfort me when I cry
It never occurred to me at the time
That her words could be a lie

He'd never lie to me, he promised
Or hold back words that are true
But everyone else said otherwise
Why did I think he wouldn't lie too?

The girl who I trusted most of all
