I know a little angel once With half a dollar to spend-- She thought a kitten would be nice To love and gently tend. She found some in the pet shop-- Such fluffy pretty things-- Their bright blue eyes and playful ways Made her clap her wings. They held out tiny clause to her, Imploring her to choose-- She picked the ugliest of them all, He made such plaintive mews! His fur was matted, short and rough, His eyes were shy and yellow-- I asked the little angel what She saw in such a fellow. She said, "The others are so sweet. People will love them all; But if I did not buy this one, He'd not be loved at all!"
