Now And Forever

by Laura   Jun 23, 2006

I was a lost soul searching frantically for my destiny
Going through a phase where I did not believe in me
Operating in the shadows you were my savior in disguise
Jubilantly over time a beautiful friendship did materialize

Always myself without ever feeling a need to pretend
Quickly my solid wall of defenses started to descend
Discovered and encouraged a hidden talent I had always denied
No indication before that fateful day that our lives would collide

Self -assurance gained from your daily flirtatious compliments
To this day I have been able to maintain this newfound confidence
My eyes have been opened to the beauty that lies outside and within
Opportunities now available to me that before I could only envision

Became my confidant when I needed to express my inner most fears
Even though we had only known each other for a couple short years
Your laughter has always been infectious as if setting a new trend
Comforting words spoken and instantly my broken heart would mend

You made me feel more like a woman than any other man ever could
As time passes I thought I knew where in our relationship I stood
Without you in my life I would feel like a part of me was missing
So you will never see the day come when I will stop wishing

Our love will keep blossoming like a wild flower
The truest form it is so pure that it will never sour
An eternity of unconditional loves and support
Returned with sincerity without reason to extort

Although I did like the poem, the last stanza did not have the same rhythm as the rest. You still did a nice job. Again, I like the word choice.

Dang!!! Girl, you had me all caught
up in this read. A very captivating
    and wonderfully written poem.
The last stanza really knocked me out
and was like the icing on the cake.
Thank you for sharing and Write On,

I enjoyed this poem a lot. I liked your choice of wording in your rhymes, not the same old words you see in every poem!! I definately need to work on that in my poems!! lol
It's nice to hear a happy love poem!! I don't care which poem of mine you read, you can take your pick. I am trying to branch out my writing.

When I read the title of this poem, two songs came to mind. Air Supply and Richard Marx, they both had the title Now and Forever. I remembered singing Richard Marx - Now and Forever to my girlfriend.

This was a really sweet poem Laur. It could have been a love poem too, because you put a lot of strong emotions into it. I also liked the words you picked out for this one, they seem so natural in the poem, but it's words I rarely use in my everyday talks. Great stuff Laur!..
