Until he was taken away

She had the hardest time admitting, their love had actually died
She sat and stared at their picture reminiscing and sighed
She knew it was her fault, all those stupid times she lied
But now she couldn’t get him to put those lies aside

He’d have candlelight dinners waiting at the table
But she’d come home from the bar, literally unstable
He’d make breakfast in bed, orange juice and two bagels
But she had such a hangover, the morning was wasteful

She always lied to him about everything she did
There were so many nights her body was up for bid
Her boyfriend tried to hold back tears from escaping his eyelid
But then enough was enough, he felt like he was dating a kid

He packed his things, left the key, took off in the night
She came home with no heat on; they also cut off her lights
She knew she had no room to even say what he did was not polite
It was her fault that he left so uptight

Weeks had passed and she missed his sweet cologne
Her apartment half empty, it was his furniture that filled the home
She couldn’t get out of bed, she just felt so alone
For now realization hit her, it was his love she’d only known

She finally found him one day just walking down the street
With a new girl on his arm, he just looked so complete
She felt so dizzy that she got knocked of her feet
It was out of her hands now; she had no strength to compete

She hadn’t done it in so long, but went home and started to pray
She knew she needed help and had to change her ways
She said “God if no one else could you please just stay
I didn’t realize what I had, until you took it away”
