Found a truer friend

I’m finding it a bit amusing
How when these summers roll in
We never keep in touch
Yeah you’re a real best friend

It’s been a month again
Since the last time you called
And I’m extremely proud of myself
Not once have I bawled

I remember the last two summers
I was heart broken over you
I thought I found a best friend
But over summers you never stay true

But now I’ve met some girls
Who mean the world to me
And it’s great to know that
With them I’m so happy

I do remember our memories
They were a blast I won’t lie
And ok I’ll be a little honest
They do make me want to cry

Only because I know it was you
Who wants to throw it all away
I guess we’ve both changed
And to you it seems ok

But I think I’m hurting myself most
By really giving up this time
I refuse to call you now
I refuse to keep you on my mind

And if and so you do call
Sadly, I’ll still be here
Because I’m the bigger friend
And will still catch your tears

If and so you do want to hang out
Sadly, I’ll agree
Because I do still love you much
You know how to sweet talk me

But I’m being honest when I say
I don’t think I’ll call you best friend
Because summer is here now
And we’re in the same situation again

A best friend wouldn’t leave me hanging
And I am happy I found someone else
Who treats me like a real best friend
And already knows when I need help

Perhaps I’ll let myself cry once more
Just to release the rest of the tears from me eyes
I’m so sorry Old best friend
It was you who let this friendship die

I guess you gotta know the situation to really understand this poem...this is the 2 consecutive summer my best friend just doesn't call to see if I'm ok or how things are going...and I'm sick of it and FINALLY I didn't waste my summer crying..I've met new girls and I'm havin a blast :-) Comments and votes are still appreciated!
