You Have To Be Them

by Staci   Jun 24, 2006

A torrent of pain
it's so clear and plain
you can see what's inside
so why do you hide?
can you not conform?
is the world too uniform?
everything the same
society is to blame
people that can't be
people like you and me
lost in a world hate
individual is a word they hate
what's wrong with it?
why do we have to quit
being who we are?
just to live up to par
we have to be like them
or your soul they'll condemn
can't be Goth, Punk, or Emo
can't listen to metal, rock, or scream-o
if you do you'll go to hell
but how can they tell?
how do they know what your soul is like?
do they judge by your collar with spikes?
or maybe they know by what you wear
dark clothes, dark make-up, can't they see you don't care?
they don't know why
you look like you always cry
all the judging and the teasing
they just find it pleasing
to hurt another soul
to send them falling down a hole
it never ends and never will
so much blood has to spill
so many lives thrown away
from the path they stray
walking away from life
cutting with a knife
people say that they don't know
but how could they not? your pain you show
but it really doesn't matter
they like to see your broken heart shatter
so at home you cry again and again
it seem this game you cannot win
so once again you cut your arm
there's so much bodily harm
but they don't do anything to make it stop
no one care's not even a cop
so this time you cut too deep
as you sit there alone and weep
and now you say your last good-bye
as you slowly lie down and thankfully die

Wonderful poem! You are right...about how everyone is quick to judge and label without knowing a thing. Keep it up!
